Taman pintar science park

Gundana

Taman Pintar Yogyakarta is a new children’s science park set up by the Yogyakarta City Government “to provide a place for children, and the general public, to learn about science in a fun way that encourages expression, appreciation, and creativity”. Our Indonesian family took the kids during a holiday to Yogya last year.

If you are researching a visit, try and track down Virginia Veryastuti’s article in Geruda Magazine.

Some of the public spaces are free, where children can enjoy not only learning games but traditional local kids games like gobak sodor and engklek. The next area is the heritage area, where for a small fee the children can try various cultural things like batik. The final area is a large interactive science and technology museum type space. The inaccurate English labels here drove me mad, but that’s just because I’m a museum curator by profession!

When everyone is tired there’s a great food court to revive you.

Our family had a great time at Taman Pintar and we recommend it highly. If you are in Yogya with children, this place is number one on your list of things to do and see 🙂

“We fell in love with CERIA Hotel Alun-Alun the moment we walked through the lobby door. We were greeted with friendly smile, cool refreshment towels and fruit infused water. We could feel that there was a lot of love and hard work went into this hotel’s meticulous architecture, interior, and landscape. We stayed at the Deluxe rooms, which were very clean, neat, and comfortable. There was always someone sweeping and mopping the floor maintaining cleanliness throughout the hotel. There were six options of freshly-cooked meals for breakfast, and we got to try four of them which were delicious. The hotel’s staffs were always there to help us with all our needs. The hotel manager, Pak Nanang, was very friendly and warm. He always greeted us every time he saw us, and shared stories with us. Thank you everyone at Hotel Ceria for making our stay in Yogyakarta memorable and thank you for sharing your wonderful and lovely hotel with us. It is an absolute hidden gem of Yogya and we are hoping to return one day. “
