Air force 1 wind turbine review

Gundana

When high winds are forecast, we recommend that you visit the website to see an estimated forecast of the wind speed in your area (mph), and live data from weather stations around the country. http://www.xcweather.co.uk By hovering over your own area on the observation wind speed map, you will see a wind speed reading from the nearest weather station to you, together with a forecast of wind speeds over the next few days. The following instructions are for customers who have not purchased the Airforce Control, and manually stop the turbine in high winds speeds. Should wind speeds be predicted to be Beaufort scale 6 and above, (shown in shades of pink), it is recommended that the turbine is switched off. If predicted to be Beaufort 8 and above, if possible, lower the tower. It is important to take the actions to either switch the turbine off or to lower the tower before the high wind speeds are reached. If you experience wind speeds higher than your expectations and you have not switched off your turbine, switch off in a lull in the wind, i.e. in between gusts. The introduction of the AirForceTM Control provides unparalleled performance monitoring and automatic system protection in adverse weather conditions. Included with the AirForceTM Control is a Davis Anemometer, that provides the system with both wind speed and direction information. The system will automatically shut-down when pre-set limits are exceeded and protect the unit from over speeding or operating with no load. When the wind levels decrease to acceptable levels the system will automatically restart. Please see our link here for DC stop switch instructions and shut-down procedure. Please see our link here for AC stop switch instructions and shut-down procedure.

Before you consider wind power, the diagram below shows the areas unsuitable for Wind Turbines – if your potential turbine position is not affected by these criteria – please read on!

The New Futurenergy Turbine – Information, Assembly & Installation Guide

New 1kW AirForce Turbine New PMG on Futurenergy Turbine

This “Completely New Model” ‘rugged’ Upwind Turbine range is based on over 10 years experience of real-life usage with testing and development from user feedback throughout the world.

Using our unique Permanent Magnet Generators, combined with our Hi-Spec Wind Turbine Blade Sets, these turbines create very useful power in low wind conditions, and over 1000W in winds of 12.5m/s.

Available in 24V & 48V AC versions, they are suitable for battery charging, water /air heating etc.

We don’t recommend, nor will we warranty the installation of any of our turbines in ‘building-mounted’ installations, other than for steel-framed and other industrial buildings. These turbines are tower-top ready, and will fit on to a standard scaffold pole but require a certain degree of DIY skill.

Your turbine will be supplied in 2 shipping containers, weighing a total of 30Kg, plus additional Controller etc and you will be required to attach the tailfin and blades to the main turbine housing. All instructions will be supplied to guide you through the simple assembly, and you should be ready to mount and use your turbine in only a few hours.

• Unique NEW UK made high-spec 3 Phase Permanent Magnet Generator
• 3 top-grade glass filled light grey nylon turbine blades
• Sealed bearings in mast-mounting shaft
• 60 Amp rated slip-ring prevents cable-twisting
• Aerodynamic profile design
• Patented anti-vibration locking washers
• Rugged and simple, with a minimum of parts and simplicity of design
• Treated with cutting edge protective coating for optimal corrosion and weather resistance

• Now comes complete with Futurenergy’s own Airforce Controller, negating the need for separate charge controllers etc.

Please note these controllers are available seperately and can be retro fitted to most 3 phase turbines of similar power, and in some cases can be fitted to older DC output turbines with the rectifier in the head (as long as the actual generator is 3 phase) – please email or call to discuss

AirForce Control is a brand-new product designed and manufactured by FuturEnergy. AirForce Control provides unparalleled performance monitoring and automatic system protection for your 3-Phase AC 1kW turbine installation. Included with the AirForce Control is a Davis Anemometer, which provides the system with both wind speed and wind direction information.

Davis Anemometer

The AirForce Control unit is installed within a covered area close to and in series with the manual stop-switch and directly to the batteries or other loads. When charge parameters are met, or other controlled parameters exceeded, the turbine is automatically stopped and restarted when conditions return within operational limits or further battery charging is required.
AirForce Control offers access to a Web-based portal providing remote control & configuration, along with trending of historical performance data for your turbine.
AirForce Control features:
* Provides configurable automatic control of the turbine
* Prevents damage due to turbine overspeed
* Improves system safety, reliability and longevity
* Compatible with 3 phase AC turbine installations and 24V and 48V battery charging installations
* Ability to monitor performance of the wind turbine: Power (W), Energy (Whrs), Wind speed instant (m/s) plus time averaged value, Wind direction (cardinal and ordinal), Battery voltage (Volts), Current (Amps), Turbine speed (rpm)

* Remote monitor/control capability with WiFi and PC internet connection, also with Android & IOS App.

Web Interface

* Configurable automatic stop/start functionality, parameterised on: Maximum battery voltage (turbine stop) with turbine restart voltage, Maximum charge current (turbine stop), Wind speed maximum (turbine stop) and restart value, Turbine restart delay time (seconds)
* Augments manual stop switch
* Maintains battery systems at optimum levels to prolong life. Negates the need for dump loads

All EasyGrid systems have an upgrade option that allows owners to integrate a wind turbine as part of their renewable power input either at time of order or retrospectively. Whilst solar arrays are a good source of renewable power, wind turbines can also deliver valuable additional energy. Solar power can produce great results when the sun is shining but that may be only for a few hours a day, particularly in the UK.  A wind turbine, whilst it may not be as powerful, can be producing power at any point during the course of 24 hours.

By integrating this additional renewable source, owners can further reduce generator run time and running costs.

FuturEnergy AirForce1 turbine

The AirForce 1 turbine is our recommended unit to use with an EasyGrid. The turbines are designed and manufactured in the UK and have already been installed on a number of off grid power installations.

The Airforce 1 has significant benefits over other wind turbines. Many turbines will rotate whenever there is wind, even if there is no demand; requiring a dump load to dissipate the excess energy. Airforce 1 turbines detect the load requirements of the system and will slow or stop the turbine entirely if power is not required. This reduces any unnecessary turbine noise and wear on components and means there is no need to install a dump load.

Another key feature is the sophisticated control system which determines when to stop and start the turbines, monitor and log system performance and protect from adverse weather events.

The touchscreen display on the controller gives visibility on all relevant information about the system, e.g. wind speed, instant power, turbine rpm, max voltage and current. All the information can also be remotely monitored through an online web portal.

For installation, the turbine is designed to accept 48.3mm standard scaffolding tubes for mounting and can be supplied with an additional guy-wire kit for mounting.
